So you’ve read (or audiobooked) Ryder Carroll’s Bullet Journal Method, you’ve looked at a few youtube videos, and now you’re ready to get started. Congrats on joining the #bujo club! The Bullet Journal Starter Kit I’ve compiled are the supplies I recommend for those just starting out with journaling. They are the best quality for your money and a good entry for those starting out.
Must Haves
Beginner bullet journalers will like this journal because of the price! less than $10? swoon! But also the pages are thick and sturdy so you’re able to explore different mediums with no worries. This journal is perfect if you are a beginner starting out with journaling. When I started journing I wasn’t ready to splurge for the popular internet $30 journals but I still wanted to explore the hobby for it’s productivity benefits. This journal will allow you to try layouts and spreads so you can get comfortable before committing to the more pro supplies.
2. B2B Pens
These pens glide across paper soooo smoothly. Added bonus is they’re made from recycled water bottles ♻️
3. Mildliner
These are popular in the bujo youtube community and for good reason. The pigment is just enough to make your spread pop without smearing the underlying pen. Great addition for adding color to your Bullet Journal Spreads.
You might want to paste in a concert ticket or poloroid picture and double sided tape will add the extra security you’re looking for.
Nice-to-Haves
You can choose to write out all the dates….some even find it fun and metative! But for the rest of us these stickers are a nice shortcut.
6. Smartphone Portable Printer
I really only recommend getting one of these once you’ve gotten a few months of journaling under your belt. The printers are a bit pricey and after all there’s no need to cannon ball into a new hobby and buy all the supplies if after the first week you realize it’s not really your thing. If you would like to add photos to your journal spreads and capture moments this can be a great tool. I use to have the trendy Fujifilm Instax but I found I could never get the lighting quite right when I took the photos so the photos wouldn’t develop all the way or would be washed out. With the smartphone printer you eliminate the lighting issue so you can add photos to your spread with ease.
If you’re thinking about a smartphone printer be sure to read my review of the Instax Mini Link here.
I’m confident this Bullet Journal Starter Kit will get you off on the right foot for your productivity journey.
